At Drexel, the Fulldome Projection project is typically assigned to Freshmen students, or students new to the Immersive Media Minor during the VRIM 110 Digital Imaging for VR/AR Media.

Working through the assignment, students learn about alternative image projections, including latlong/spherical and fulldome/polar, not typically encountered when creating media for traditional rectangular screen viewing.

Creative and effective design principles specific to immersive presentation are explored and practiced while developing recognition and understanding of physical and optical constraints inheriant to dome projection media presentations.
