Web Designer Developer

POSITION: Web Designer/Developer
The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center (CPC) requires a Web Designer/Developer to support activities related to the ongoing development, design, and implementation of a redesigned CPC web site.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will have a degree in web design/development or similar experience, and at least three years developing Rich Internet Applications and multimedia. Proficiency with the following current web technologies is mandatory: HTML/HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, XML, and OGC web services in the Windows and Linux environment. Additionally, the candidate should have solid experience leveraging JavaScript UI Frameworks, such as JQWidgets for interface design, and the ArcGIS API for JavaScript to display and manipulate data from dynamic map services. Strong design skills, with meticulous attention to detail are necessary to be successful. Experience in creating and working with custom Content Management Systems using PHP and MySQL; experience and skill developing software using object-oriented design principles and sound development practices are all considered to be desirable assets. Drupal experience is a plus.
DUTIES: Specific activities will include the continued creation and implementation of a flexible development strategy based on an existing analysis of the structure, web-technologies, organization, workflow, and content of the current CPC web site. The candidate will also be required to produce creative solutions intended to increase the usability of CPC products through multimedia products that promote the organization and its services, to the user community and targeted audiences.
COMPENSATION: This is a full time salaried position at $75-$90k annually dependent on experience. Benefits include Health insurance, 401k etc.
